What are the two main parts of the nephron?

Question

Question:

What are the two main parts of the nephron?

Answer & Explanation:

Nephrons are the functional parts of the kidneys. There are approximately 1.3 million nephrons in each kidney. Each nephron has two main parts namely the glomerulus and tubules. Acting like a big filter that removes wastes, solutes, and water from the blood, the glomerulus is a network of capillaries located at the beginning of a nephron. Useful solutes such as amino acids, salts, and sugar are then reabsorbed into the tubules. Aside from that, the tubules also reabsorb as much water as it can. In about 24 hours, the tubules can reabsorb more than one kilogram of salt and 180 grams of sugar, or glucose.
